Fostering in a digital world: challenges and opportunities

Digital technologies are part of everyday life.

For children and young people, being online is integral to developing hobbies, playing and interacting with others, and learning new skills. But we also know that being online can present a risk for some children and young people.

Foster carers play an essential role in supporting children to be aware of the dangers of the digital world while taking advantage of everything it offers.

Kara Connect, in partnership with Customized Training Solutions (CTS) and the Center for Social & Economic Research (CASE) Poland, received a €74.429,40 grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway Fund to create training materials for children living in foster care and their caregivers/educators. The project's name is FOSTER - How to cope in everyday life, using digital technologies wisely? Educational toolkit for teenagers in foster homes and their caregivers

As part of the project's final steps, " FOSTER - how to deal with everyday life, wisely using digital technologies? A set of educational tools for children from orphanages and their educators'', Kara Connect invites you to participate in an online event organised to support those working within foster care systems on how to make use of the training materials created effectively and to introduce how Kara Connect can serve as a “FOSTER EDUCATION, TRAINING & CONSULTATION HUB”.

- Group classes for teenagers in foster care
- Group classes/training for the employees in the foster care system

All in the safe group space of the secure Kara Connect Platform for health and therapy professionals

"Kara Connect is a fantastic tool for students and staff."

"Throughout the pandemic we have not had the option to talk in person, so it was great to have the opportunity to work online and it was a big big need at times. And still today, it is very comfortable to work either online or in person, depending on the situation."
